Saints and Villains A Novel
An astonishing historical novel in the tradition of Schindler's List--evoking powerfully the danger and heroism of the Nazi resistance. What is the price of acting morally in a time of great evil, when sin and necessity seem twinned? Saints and Villains is a strikingly resonant novel that dramatizes this painful dilemma through the fictional re-creation of the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. This emblematic figure risked his life--and finally lost it--through his participation in the failed plot to assassinate Hitler and topple the Nazi regime. In a gripping and sweeping narrative that moves from Berlin to London to New York City, encompassing shattering historical events, clandestine meetings, perilous missions abroad, and eventual imprisonments and death, Denise Giardina brings to life an instance of shining courage in the charnel house that was Europe in the Second World War. A novel that is bold in conception and utterly convincing in its powers of fictional re-creation--a literary event.

Tracey Garvis Graves-and Anna and T.J.-return in this companion novella to the New York Times bestseller On the Island. When twenty-three-year-old dot-com millionaire Owen Sparks walked away from his charmed life, he had one goal in mind: get as far away as possible from the people who resented his success, or had their hand out for a piece of it. A remote uncharted island halfway around the world seemed like a perfectly logical place to get away from it all. Calia Reed wasn't part of Owen's plans. The beautiful British girl-on holiday in the Maldives with her brother, James-made Owen wonder if getting away from it all might be a lot more enjoyable with a carefree girl who didn't know anything about the life he left behind. But Owen had no idea how much his carefully detailed plans would go awry. Nor did he realize that a decision he made would have such a catastrophic effect on two passengers who boarded a plane in Chicago. And when Owen shows up at Anna and T.J.'s door with an incredible story to tell, everyone involved will learn just how much their lives are intertwined.
Understanding Regression Assumptions
Through the use of careful explanation and examples, Berry demonstrates how to consider whether the assumptions of multiple regression are actually satisfied in a particular research project. Beginning with a brief review of the regression assumptions as they are typically presented in text books, he moves on to explore in detail the substantive meaning of each assumption; for example, lack of measurement error, absence of specification error, linearity, homoscedasticity, and lack of auto-correlation.
Beyond the Final Score
The Beijing Olympics will be remembered as the largest, most expensive, and most widely watched event of the modern Olympic era. But did China present itself as a responsible host and an emergent international power, much like Japan during the 1964 Tokyo Games and South Korea during the 1988 Seoul Games? Or was Beijing in 2008 more like Berlin in 1936, when Germany took advantage of the global spotlight to promote its political ideology at home and abroad? Beyond the Final Score takes an original look at the 2008 Beijing games within the context of the politics of sport in Asia. Asian athletics are bound up with notions of national identity and nationalism, refracting political intent and the processes of globalization. For China, the Beijing Games introduced a liberalizing ethos that its authoritative regime could ignore only at its peril. Victor D. Cha-former director of Asian affairs for the White House-evaluates Beijing's contention with this pressure, considering the intense scrutiny China already faced on issues of counterproliferation, global warming, and free trade.

Atlas of Nuclear Cardiology
The aim of the 4th edition of the Atlas of Nuclear Cardiology is to provide physicians and students in cardiology, radiology, and nuclear medicine who want the latest information in the field of cardiovascular nuclear medicine up-to-date and comprehensive information on advances in instrumentation, radiotracers, protocols, and clinical studies. Unlike other books that are narrow in their scope of either technology and technique or clinical studies, the 4th edition of the Atlas will present diagnostic algorithms and schematic diagrams integrated with nuclear cardiology procedures generously interspersed with color illustrations to emphasize key concepts in cardiovascular physiology, pathology, and metabolism relevant for the clinical practice of cardiology. The atlas emphasizes today’s most current information, meeting the requirements for those who will be using the book as a reference source for certifying or re-certifying in cardiology, nuclear cardiology, nuclear medicine or radiology. Hybrid PET/CT and SPECT/CT represent new technologies that were introduced recently in clinical medicine and are evolving rapidly with several improvements in instrumentation, imaging procedures as well as in clinical trials that support the expanded role of these technologies in clinical practice. As such, an updated 4th edition of the Atlas is critical in order for the clinicians remain current with the imaging field and maintain their skills. Imaging protocols with the se technologies have to be updated and/or expanded in order to acquire high quality images at a reduced radiation burden to the patient while advancing the application of these techniques for more advanced disease detection. Accordingly, beyond significantly updating the chapters from the 3rd edition, 2 new chapters will be introduced in the 4th edition, which reflects the expanded clinical applications of the technologies in the past 3 years. The new chapters are as follows: "Hybrid SPECT/CT and PET/CT Imaging" and a dedicated chapter on "Radiation Safety and Exposure: Clinical Decision-Making and the Risk-Benefit Ratio". Chapter 7 from the 3rd edition will be deleted. The updated Atlas will serve as a reference source for all cardiologists, radiologists, and nuclear medicine physicians interested in the most up-to-date approaches to noninvasive diagnostic cardiovascular nuclear imaging techniques for the evaluation of patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease as well as non-coronary heart disease. It will also serve as a ready reference textbook for medical students and residents interested in the practice of cardiovascular medicine.
